Distinguished wartime bomber pilot Group Captain J.R. (Benny) Goodman has died at his South Hams home.

The 86-year-old from Frogmore, near Kingsbridge, worked for his community and church later in life but was proud of his RAF career which earned him the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bar and also the Air Force Cross.
