A venomous black widow spider is loose in Paignton after biting a man and leaving him in agony for two weeks.

The 49-year-old, who requested that only his Christian name is reported, discovered the spider on his wrist while out walking his dog.

Keith said he felt a searing pain, lifted his sleeve and saw the arachnid. It had bitten him, leaving a mark the size of a 50p coin, and he went to Paignton Hospital with his wife.
