The jockeys' championship moved on apace at Wolverhampton this week when Jamie Spencer won the first four races on the Dunstall Park card to draw level with his rival, Seb Sanders, after an outstanding 305-1 four-timer.

Things were going Spencer's way as he made the most of a couple of spare rides, after his weighing room colleagues had met with traffic problems en-route to the West Midlands' course.

It was a marvellous effort by the Irishman, but some of the gloss was removed in the fifth race when Spencer was out-smarted by Danny Tudhope, who kicked for home early on the 3-1 winner ...
