No newts? Bad newts

We need to do more for Gloucestershire's great crested newts,
whose populations are dwindling according to Esther Collis,
Gloucestershire's great crested newt project officer.
No Newts is Bad Newts is a new project launched by the
Gloucestershire Biodiversity Partnership, to help save the county's
great crested newts.
These pond-dwellers are the UK's most strictly protected
amphibian. Despite having a widespread distribution, populations are
still being lost, mainly because of the ongoing decline of ponds
which in Gloucestershire is estimated at up to 50 per cent since
1950.
