Peacock taking chance to strut for CD audience
|
It is a sun-drenched September day, a good vibration for the
release of Alice Peacock's debut record on Aware/Columbia. Peacock is
the first female Chicago singer-songwriter to be signed to a major
label since Liz Phair.
Peacock is in the backroom seafood restaurant of the Local Option,
a popular Lincoln Park tavern owned by her husband, Hugh Haller. She
is talking about the pop-folk ambiance of the album, which is sure
to draw comparisons with labelmate John Mayer.
Her songs are upbeat with sweet melodies and catchy hooks, lines
and sinkers: "Parallel Life" endures through infectious rhythm ...
