An Aberdeen man provided a Scottish salute to a top European marathon - by piping himself across the finish line.

Scott Crighton paid a stirring tribute to his home country when he completed the Berlin road race playing the bagpipes in his kilt and running gear.

At intervals from the 13th mile mark to the finish line the intrepid police officer still had enough puff to belt out traditional tunes.

And Scott raised pounds1,400 for the Institute of Cancer Research. He was running in memory of several friends and relatives who had suffered from cancer.
