Weather watcher leaving Mount Wilson

MOUNT WILSON - For more than 17 years atop Mount Wilson, Lu
Rarogiewicz kept an eye on L.A.'s weather, watched the clouds roll
by, and from his perch, became an expert on sunsets.
Later this month, the former National Weather Service observer,
observatory volunteer and astronomy lecturer, leaves his mountain
post, 5,710 feet above sea level, for good.
"I'm missing it already," the former Azusa resident said. "I have
been here a quarter of my life. It's time to move on."
Rarogiewicz, 69, lived rent-free by himself in his eagle's-nest
apartment atop Mount Wilson on Weathervane Drive in the San ...
