Nayland College drew first blood in the new national co-ed schools 1st 15 rugby competition with a comfortable 24-3 win over Queen Charlotte College in Nelson on Tuesday.

Nayland's four-try victory saw it maintain its unbeaten record for the season and will now play the winner of the match between Christchurch's Roncalli College and Papanui High School at Culverden in the Crusaders region semifinals - the date still to be determined.
