DHB to spend $1m extra on equipment

The Nelson Marlborough District Health Board has announced an extra $1 million will be spent to replace failing hospital equipment.

On Tuesday the board voted unanimously to boost equipment funding to $3 million for this financial year.

Chief executive John Peters said the board had budgeted $2 million a year for hospital equipment since the mid-1990s but that allocation had failed to keep pace with increasing costs.
