A law banning kitesurfing at Nelson's Tahunanui Beach is being ignored by kitesurfers and authorities because it is too hard to police.

A New Zealand aviation rule bans kitesurfing and kite flying within 4km of an airport boundary, but despite this, kitesurfers continue to regularly use the beach.
