Nelson warms to gentel spirit; Fine humour marks Dalai Lama's visit

Although the Dalai Lama is an important world leader with heavy
political and spiritual responsibilities that doesn't stop him
enjoying the humorous sight of someone clambering about in the wrong
shoes.
Chandrakirti Centre co-director and tour co-ordinator Bruce Farley
was in a rush to leave the newly consecrated meditation hall in Upper
Moutere yesterday morning to drive the Dalai Lama back into Nelson,
but outside the door he was confronted with hundreds of shoes.
