623-per cent rise in pocket money for Scots kids Weekly allowance surges by six times the rate of inflation

CHILDREN'S weekly pocket money in Scotland has risen by a massive 623-per cent in the last 20 years.

During the same time, in comparison, inflation rose by a paltry 99- per cent. In 1987, Scottish children could expect to receive an average of GBP1.18 weekly allowance, compared to today's rate of GBP8.53.

Across the UK average pocket money allowance has risen from GBP1.13 to GBP8.01. It means Scots youngsters get even more than children growing up in London.
