"Verdun, Visions d'Histoire" travels all the way from Toulouse,
France, for its screening at the National Gallery of Art on Sunday.
But the 4,000-mile journey -- one also made by Natacha Laurent of
the Cinematheque de Toulouse and pianist Hakim Bentchouala-Golobitch
-- is nothing for this well-traveled film.
Laurent calls Leon Poirier's 1928 silent film "very important for
