IAN CLARK remembers many things about his years in the Scouts: the friendship, the activities, the discipline. . . and the day he washed a car while an Evening Times photographer took his picture.

That photograph, taken in April 1960, has resurfaced after 45 years to form the cover of this edition of TimesPast.

And Ian is amused to have become a cover star at the age of 58.
