Drive begins to fill vacant community council seats

THE hunt is on for hundreds of people to represent communities across Glasgow.

At present the city has 80 active community councils, although there are a further 32 areas where lack of interest means no community council has been set up.

Some groups which do exist do not have their full quota of members, which means there are around 650 unfilled places.

Community councils are regarded as the "eyes and ears" of local people, keeping Glasgow City Council informed of issues in the area.
