Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith was today facing fresh claims over his employment of his wife as a secretary.

Journalist Michael Crick was handing the Westminster standards watchdog an internal Conservative Party document said to raise further questions about her work.

Mr Duncan Smith last night gave Sir Philip Mawer, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, a 40-page dossier denying he had made improper payments to his wife Betsy.
