Blair, Sharon in talks on Middle East peace plan; Move to smooth relations as Blair's problems pile up

Tony Blair was today holding talks with Israeli Prime Minister
Ariel Sharon, aimed at pushing forward the Middle East peace process.
Mr Sharon's visit to London, during which he was also meeting
Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, comes amid continuing problems in
ensuring both sides follow the agreed plan for ending the conflict
between Israel and the Palestinians.
The meeting came as Mr Blair faced a crisis of public confidence
in the wake of the Iraqi war, with evidence that huge numbers of
voters believed he misled Britain over the conflict.
