The tree of life is under a sentence of death.
In five years, the ash tree, making up 7 percent of the trees in
Evansville, is expected to be under lethal attack by the emerald ash
borer. Maybe sooner. There's even a chance the borer is here now.
Almost without question, what tree experts call "the evil, green
menace" will move through the Tri-State unabated, decimating ash
trees in its path. Not just some will die. Virtually all will die.
