The two pairs of eyes that have seen more of Earth than all others
met in Evansville on Tuesday night, and John Clouse talked to Charles
Veley about the near-misses.
"Charles succeeded at one of my most frustrating destinations,"
said Clouse, 79, over a bottle of wine at his kitchen table. He was
talking about Bouvet Island, a volcanic sub-Antarctic entity visited
only every couple of years by humans. Clouse had flown there once but
treacherous weather kept him from landing.
