ANTIBODIES MAY BE KEY IN BREAST CANCER TREATMENT

Attacking growth-promoting proteins in the body could prove revolutionary in the treatment of breast cancer, according to a researcher at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Although additional study and follow-up are required, Dr. George Sledge Jr. said the "real excitement" at this year's annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology involved clinical trials of two biologic therapies that target proteins contributing to the accelerated growth of cancer cells.
