SPIRITED EVENING IN GRAVEYARD PENNYROYAL AREA MUSEUM OFFERS SUPPER IN CEMETERY TOURS
|
Christian County historian William T. Turner can bring the dead to
life -- and does so a couple of times a year.
Each spring and fall, the retired Hopkinsville Community College
history professor leads tours of Hopkinsville's Riverside Cemetery,
where he exhumes the lives of the local luminaries buried there.
The Supper in the Cemetery tours are sponsored by the Pennyroyal
Area Museum and usually draw 40 to 50 people who accompany Turner on
an hourlong stroll through sections of the 115-acre cemetery. More
than 15,000 people have been buried there since its 1837 opening.
A box meal is included.
