ARTIST MARY CASSATT AGAIN HONORED

Artist Mary Cassatt, the only American associated with the famous
French Impressionists, loved to paint children.
Three of the four works featured in a recent Postal Service stamp
set of Cassatt's works show children.
The series is part of the new American Treasures series. The
stamps were released Aug. 7 in Columbus, Ohio.
"Children Playing on the Beach," one of the paintings, is
considered a fine study of youngsters. Two toddlers are shown on a
beach. One child is busy with a bucket and shovel.
It was painted in 1884 and shown at the last Impressionist
exhibition in Paris in 1886. It now ...
