Wrangling is continuing over ownership of Rosine native and
Bluegrass legend Bill Monroe's mandolin.
The Rosine-based Bill Monroe Foundation agreed last year to buy
the instrument from Monroe's son, James, for $1.125 million. But when
the money was not delivered by a 10 a.m. Wednesday deadline, James
Monroe said the deal of was off and he was putting the mandolin, a
1923 F-5 Gibson orchestral model, on the open market to the highest
bidder.
