Hawks positively fine as skid hits 8: Devils 2, Blackhawks 1. Shootout loss hurts, but players see lots of improvement

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Apparently, a week away from games did
the Blackhawks some good.
But it wasn't enough to get them a victory in their return to
action Thursday night.
The Hawks' losing streak grew to eight games when the New Jersey
Devils pulled out a 2-1 shootout victory. The Hawks have suffered
only four longer losing streaks in franchise history, but at least
there were some upbeat feelings after this latest loss. It came in
the Hawks' first overtime game of the season and produced their
first standings point since a win over Montreal on Oct. 18.
