Hampshire told to pay back grant: State board orders county to return half of money from state

PARKERSBURG - Hampshire County school administrators were directed
Thursday to return nearly half of a $75,000 state grant that former
Delegate Jerry Mezzatesta solicited.
A state Department of Education consulting team determined that
Hampshire school administrators misspent $35,000 in department grant
money. Mezzatesta diverted the money to volunteer fire departments
and a library in Hampshire County. The money was initially intended
for a sheltered work...
