Battle gave hint of things to come

Two hundred twenty-eight years later, people still debate if the Battle of Point Pleasant was the first battle of the Revolutionary War.

But people familiar with the history of the event believe it was a testing ground for many now- famous people who went on to become prominent American leaders.

Starting today, thousands of people will come to Mason County to enjoy a weekend of events commemorating the battle. The first activities for Battle Days begin at 10 a.m. today in the Mansion House Museum and ends at 2 p.m. Sunday with a memorial service at Tu- Endie-Wei ...
