The prospect of nuclear war not on many minds in the U.S.

YOU MIGHT think that fear of a nuclear war would eclipse other current worries. But people don't even want to think about the unthinkable. They can't concentrate on annihilation because they're engrossed in the "what might have been" on 9/11.

The CIA and the FBI are slugging it out like two schoolboys on a playground yelling, "Did! Didn't!" at each other. In London, it's World Cup soccer and the queen's golden jubilee that keep them from fretting about incineration.
