Provident Energy Supports New Alberta Ethane Extraction Policy

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 29, 2006) - Provident
Energy Trust (Provident) (TSX:PVE.UN) (NYSE:PVX) today stated support
for the Alberta Department of Energy's efforts to encourage further
ethane processing in Alberta. Earlier today, the Province of Alberta
announced its intention to pursue a new Incremental Ethane Extraction
Policy that would provide a consumption credit to petrochemical
companies for incremental ethane processed in Alberta.
