April 2006
Much of Ontario last month was as dry as a good martini - or a
match that could start a forest fire.
Northwestern Ontario had very little precipitation in April, with
numerous locations showing readings below 10 millimetres for the
entire month. And Southern Ontario had several sites with unusually
low readings. These very dry conditions could create concern for the
forest industry in the coming summer months. Measurable snowfall was
reported only in the first week of the month, with significant
