TransAlta's Chief Financial Officer to Retire in 2006

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - June 30, 2005) - TransAlta Corporation (TSX:TA) (NYSE:TAC) today announced that Ian Bourne, executive vice-president and chief financial officer, will be retiring by the end of 2006 after nine years of service with the company.

Mr. Bourne plans to become more active as a director on corporate boards and stay involved in the community. Currently Mr. Bourne serves on the board and chairs the audit committee of Ballard Power Systems. He is also a director of TransAlta Power L.P.
