Party fit for a Queen on list ; KENILWORTH: Inventory shines light on Earl's efforts to woo Elizabeth

HISTORY buffs have been offered a fascinating insight into life
at Kenilworth Castle.
English Heritage, which owns the site, has revealed the details
of a 16th Century inventory of the castle, home to Robert Dudley,
Earl of Leicester at Kenilworth Castle, who was said to be Queen
Elizabeth I's favourite.
A chessboard of black ebony with checkers, crystals and other
stones, the tusk of a sea bear, and curtains of crimson satin
striped with a bone lace of gold and silver are just a few of the
entries listed in the inventory.
