Cantwell beaten by a centimeter

Former Missouri standout Christian Cantwell lost out on his second straight shot put title in the Reunion Internacional de Atletismo yesterday in Valencia, Spain, by a mere centimeter.

Cantwell, ranked No. 2 in the world by the IAAF, had a sixth- round throw of 69 feet, 11 inches (21.31 meters), taking the lead from top-ranked Reese Hoffa. On his final attempt of the meet, however, Hoffa threw 69-111/2 (21.32) to edge Cantwell.
