OPEN COLUMN Focus on political views does disservice to readers

Editor, the Tribune: I read "FBI searches home of Muslim family"
with interest. From the opening sentence's characterization of Shakir
Hamoodi as "an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq" to the closing
passage's discussion of Hamoodi's sense of whether the U.S. Army
would be welcomed in Iraq, the piece dealt more with Hamoodi's
political views than with the FBI's search of his home.
Fixating on Hamoodi's skepticism about the war in Iraq is
unfortunate on many levels.
First, his analysis is hardly newsworthy given that most Americans
currently see the war as misguided.
