Mount Eaton discusses snow removal, employee wages

MOUNT EATON -- When the Mount Eaton Village Council decided earlier in the year to go it alone on snow removal this winter, everything seemed to fall nicely into place.

A village pickup truck was outfitted with a snow plow, salt spreader, warning lights and a new set of snow tires. A local driver was approved to operate the rig on an "on-call" basis for an hourly wage. When the snow began to fall, most everything went as planned; but there was one minor glitch -- the village's truck was not the only plow in operation on local streets that day.
