3,430 dengue fever cases reported in Costa Rica
SAN JOSE, July 4 (Xinhua) -- A total of 3,430 cases of dengue
fever have been reported this year in Costa Rica, an increase of 27
percent from the same period last year, local media reported Friday.
The hardest-hit areas are Santa Cruz, Branca and neighboring
regions, where more than 1,000 cases have been recorded so far.
"We must double efforts because rains are increasing. We have to
eliminate Aedes breeding grounds," Vice Health Minister Eduardo Lopez
was quoted as saying.
