Italian president reminds G8 leaders of commitments to Africa
ROME, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Prior to the Group of Eight summit in
France, Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi has urged the world 's
richest nations to do more for Africa, stressing the importance of
implementing a plan of action for the continent.
"By adopting the Plan of Action for Africa, we hope the imminent
G8 summit in Evian will make a step forward in the implementation of
priority projects," Ciampi said Tuesday in a speech at the Italian
Institute for Africa and the East.
