Obasanjo leads in Nigerian presidential election: electoral body
ABUJA, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo
is leading in the country's presidential election held Saturday, the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced here
Sunday.
According to an INEC official at a news briefing, Obasanjo has so
far gained 1,973,556 votes, accounting for 63.35 percent of the
ballots that have been counted.
Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the opposition All Nigeria People's
Party (ANPP) and Obasanjo's major rival, got 1,036,641 votes, or
33.27 percent of the counted ...
