Australian Capital Territory oppose war against Iraq
CANBERRA, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Legislative Assembly of the
Australian Capital Territory passed a motion late Wednesday night
opposing war against Iraq.
The motion condemned the use of military force in Iraq and urged
the government to withdraw troops from the Persian Gulf, according to
Australian Associated Press here Thursday.
"There is no clear evidence that Iraq poses an immediate threat to
Australia or our allies," the motion said, adding "It sets a
precedent for preemptive military actions throughout the world."
