Uganda's Lake Kyoga water level rises a meter in 3 years
KAMPALA, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Water level of Lake Kyoga in central
Ugandan has risen a meter in the past three years and has submerged
375 square km of surrounding land due to the blockage of its outlets,
a senior official from the Directorate of Water Development (DWD)
has said.
Senior DWD hydrologist Jackson Twinomujuni was quoted by local
daily the New Vision on Wednesday as saying that the rise has been
caused by the floating islands which were loosened by the 1997/98 El-
