African American Doctors Denounce Medicare Proposal Deemed Harmful to Dialysis Patients in Texas and Louisiana

WASHINGTON, May 23 /U.S. Newswire/ -- At a public meeting in Dallas, the chairman of the National Medical Association strongly condemned a proposal by local Medicare officials that would effectively deny dialysis patients a medication critical to their treatment.

The proposal by the insurance company that administers Medicare in Texas and Louisiana could threaten the health of dialysis patients by severely restricting access to a widely used drug for kidney-related bone disease.
