As part of an anti-terror campaign, top U.S. Senators have called for immediate federalization of nuclear power plant security. The legislation to federalize security guards at nuclear power plants was introduced by Democratic Sens. Harry Reid of Nevada, Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and James Jeffords of Vermont.

All of the 103 power plants in the country are managed by private firms. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), opposes such federalization and says that federalization of this program introduces an opportunity for a bureaucratic ...
