Snails Pace the Path to Profit; Escargot Ranchers Riding Herd to Yuppie Market

They got under way in March 1984, shipped their first product to
market in February 1985, and began turning a profit in November 1986.
Entrepreneurs Tracy Brash and Michael Beyries didn't get where
they are at dizzying speeds-but it wouldn't be fair to call it a
snail's pace.
Brash and Beyries are partners in a small opportunist venture to
transform an agricultural pest into a yuppie delight.
A former construction company operator and a teacher of logic at
a community college, the two Californians are the principal owners
