On the same recent day a Soviet official acknowledged what the world has long known-that the Soviet Union has chemical weapons-and a Soviet agency acknowledged what no one ever doubted-that there is inflation in the Soviet economy-there wasa third and comparably dramatic development on the glasnost front. It was reportedthat glasnost has a glittering pedigree: Lenin loved it.
