Diamonds From Space;Scientists Seek Clues To Primordial Events

In the vast reaches of interstellar space, there are microscopic diamonds, scientists reported yesterday.

The diamonds were found in four meteorites that have crashed to Earth in recent times, and are possibly the oldest particles ever found on earth, dating back more than 4.5 billion years to a time before the solar system was formed, according to University of Chicago researchers who reported the finding in the March 12 issue of Nature, the British science journal.
