Web advertising helps drive WPP to 10 per cent rise in revenue

ADVERTISING and marketing destined for the internet accounted for
9 per cent of WPP's revenues last year, contributing dollars 1
billion (GBP 511 million) to group revenues of GBP 5.9bn in the year
to December - a gain of 10 per cent on 2005.
The FTSE 100 company and the world's second largest advertising
and marketing company, headed by Sir Martin Sorrell, said the
contribution from internet-related activities showed WPP to be ahead
of the industry average, with online media accounting for only 6 per
cent to 7 per cent of industry-wide advertising spending.
