Johnston Press expands Scottish stable as Archant sells titles
|
JOHNSTON Press, the Edinburgh-based newspaper publisher, has
boosted its Scottish portfolio with the acquisition of eight titles
from Norwich-based Archant.
The GBP 11.2 million deal comprises three paid-for weekly
newspapers in the North east of Scotland, including the Fraserburgh
Herald, and five freesheets which are distributed around Glasgow,
Ayrshire and Lanarkshire.
Johnston Press, the owner of The Scotsman, said the titles would
fall under the auspices of its Johnston Newspapers (Scotland)
division. The deal is conditional on clearance from competition
regulators.
