MUSIC, THE WILDERS, THE SPIEGEL GARDEN (VENUE 87) ****
THE Wilders in full flight are a sight to see as well as a sound
to relish - Stetsons nodding frantically as they generate the kind of
tunes that should, by rights, leave vapour trails.
These young old-timers from Kansas City really know how to let rip
and soon had the Spiegel Garden audience whooping for more, as Betse
Ellis's fiddle sizzled, Phil Wade coaxed a freight-train howl from
his dobro, Nate Gawron whumped along on double bass and prophet-
bearded singer-guitarist Ike Sheldon hollered out Georgia Mail or
crooned that old Hank ...
