Between the lines: As Brown and Paisley talk, are regional corporation tax rates on their way?

THE Chancellor of the Exchequer paid a flying visit to Belfast on
Monday to consult with the Rev Ian Paisley. Are there no lengths to
which Gordon Brown is prepared to go in his quest for Number 10?
The interesting thing about this meeting as far as Scotland is
concerned is what Brown and Paisley were conferring about:
corporation tax.
The standard rate of corporation tax in the UK is 30 per cent. But
while this rate holds true for Northern Ireland, just across the
border in the Republic the rate of corporation tax is only 12.5 per
