Council plans for Highland wind farms'moderated'

THE development of wind farms in the Highlands looks likely to be restricted to just three areas after the local authority revised its renewable energy strategy.

Last month, Highland Council issued a draft blueprint for consultation which earmarked 11 sites in Caithness, Sutherland, Ross- shire and Inverness-shire where major wind farms could be built.

However, following a meeting with objectors last month, a revised plan, to be discussed tomorrow, has been published which confines the areas to East Sutherland, Easter Ross and part of the Monadliath mountains.
