Westminster may ban Scots politicians being 'saved by list'

UK MINISTERS are considering a change to the Holyrood electoral system to stop politicians who lose in a constituency being saved by the list system, it emerged yesterday.

David Cairns, a Scotland Office minister, said he was aware of the strong arguments in favour of a change and said the government would "revisit" the issue when a commission reports in January.

Mr Cairns's comments represent the strongest hint to date that the Labour government in London is preparing to reope...
